Yes. I'm sorry. 107 Columbia Heights. Part of the home. Yeah you can go right in. 124 Columbia Heights is the main part of the home so that's the number I had in my head.

I will try to answer these to the best of my ability from my time there at Bethel.
1. They are in different congregations. Some go to The Heights cong. Some go to other halls. The older frail ones would all go to 107 since it was easiest.
2. The congregations they go to all have 'regular' pubs including the Heights cong.
3. Yes
4. Yes
5. No, but during the summer they all get sent out to conventions all the time so I guess they miss meetings then.
6. Yes
7. Yes. No idea if they donate. At Bethel we were encouraged to donate, which makes no sense whatsoever.
8. They do serve as elders. I don't know if any handle much in the congregation. I do know some of them would conduct the WT study. My guess is they'd be too 'busy' to do stuff like PO or Service Overseer.

DC Drama stirs up drama of it's own!!!
by DATA-DOG inremember the drama about persecution, suffering, that a modern-day job experiences?
the jw's under ban in a " landmark ruling", our faithful brother conversing with job in the new world, it' all too wonderful!
especially job wearing pants and a tunic style shirt!

Yeah they very obviously tap danced around Job's wife. I was waiting for her to show up and then I figured they didn't want to commit themselves to answering the 'will my spouse and I be together in the resurrection' question.

Something funny about him....
He's known for sunbathing in a speedo on the roof of the Bethel Home. Strange considering that sisters aren't supposed to wear revealing bathing suits. Go go sexist double standard.

Gerrit Loesch was at our DC today!
by goatshapeddemon inso, unexpectedly, the final talk was announced today and to my surprise and evil glee, they announced gerrit loesch as the speaker!
first off, at the beginning of his talk, he interrupted himself in the middle of his sentence to scold the microphone brother to lower my mike it's right in my face.. anyway, it was the talk on inspired truth, vs. inspired falsehoods.
he went through 6 expressions inspired by the demons.

Oh man back when we studied the Keep Yourself In God's Love book, there's a section where it basically says don't watch violent sports. The conductor, a huge college football fan, asks after reading the lines, "What sport does this sound like?" Someone said football. He quickly replied, "What about hockey?"
This was hilarious because it was clearly talking about football. It's amazing how elders (and anyone really) can give themselves a free pass while judging what others like or do. -

The only growth for JWs at all is in the third world. For first world countries, the only growth is in foreign language groups and communities.

Couple other interesting DC tidbits...
by goatshapeddemon in1) they're going to stop producing the wt publications index "because its hard to maintain and translate".
so they're going to create a digital-only research tool on jw.org .
it's like, how convenient and smart.

They actually are going to continute making the index but they'll have an online one too.
As for the food thing, this is nothing new. When they negotiate deals for convention facilities, WT gets a lower rate by not using the concession stands and workers. In many facilities the food is operated by a separate company. For example in many sports facilities Aramark is the one commonly used. By not having to use them, the facility costs less. However, the facility owners don't want people (for any event) to get food from anywhere else like an outside restaurant so they have to buy there. To appease the owners, WT promises that the JWs won't go out for food but bring their own lunches. When JWs go out for lunch they're breaking the agreement.
Is it dumb? Yes. I'm just posting the reasoning. Personally, I wouldn't mind having a fresh hot pretzel or some nachos from the concession stand on my lunch break :)

This is weird. There's a thread here for audio of the convention talks. I just listened to the recording of this talk and the six points are different. Was this talk not a manuscript talk? Most of them are now.
